Went to the Chet Lam + at 17 concert on Saturday, Oct 1st. I brought the ticket mainly cuz I wanted to see at17, but Chet Lam turned out to be quite good! Overall it was an excellent concert; the venue was great, cuz it's at the new cozy ballroom at the McEwen Hall @ UC. The place isn't really that big but they still had a video screen in front (a professional, clear one!). The audio is clear and a lot better than i expected. Audiences were great! Again the reaction of the audiences were better than i expected cuz usually the Chinese are a bunch of deadbeat audiences! :)
The show started off with Chet Lam coming out with his guitar in casual clothes (a white shirt and jeans to be exact). After about 1-2 songs at17 came on stage to join him. They pause between songs to chat on stage and the interaction with the audience was great! They even talked about their music influences which is always cool. I've seen at17 live several times in HK and Eman & Ellan's sings very well!. They are also quite good at playing their acoustic guitar. Quite impressed by their acoustic version of Paranoid Android! Hmm let's try to list what songs they sang: they covered Kylie Minogue's Can't get you outta my head, "Kissing You" (Girl pretend to be a boy), Adult Ceremony, Meow Meow Meow, Three Minutes Later, Porcelain (this is Julia Fordham's song i believe), they pretended to end the show by singing The Best is Yet to Come together. Of course three minutes later they came out again for the encore! at17 sang I Love Classroom and another song from Chet and the show ended. It was 12:00am by that time and i am sure everyone had a good time!
The only complain about the concert is the long intermission in between. I believe the intermission was only around 15-20 minutes but before that there was these guest singers that did some "undingable" stuff that almost ruined the night. Luckily Chet and at17 saved the show after the break (which felt like centuries)!!!
Btw, Chet and at17 only went to Toronto and Calgary and not Vancouver! Wow I am so shocked! Some fans from Vancouver drove 14hrs to see them! Wow~ some die hard fans out there!
